This post is written by Irina. It is her perspective on the little drama that took place at our house on Friday night into Saturday, captured from midnight chats with friends on Whatsapp. When I chime in, I will use Italics. Also, I translated it (duh) and I changed a bit here and there.
So…
I: Friday night into Saturday at 1:00 AM, we were awakened by Gicu, with diarrhea. We (to be read – Stefan) took him outside. After half an hour, Gicu came back inside and continued having explosive diarrhea all over the house and in bed. Since it was night, the lights were off, and our hardwood floors are dark, Stefan stepped barefoot right into his shit. I turned on all the lights in the house and wiped up a bit… the worst of it. I changed the sheets and went back to bed. I woke up at 7:00 AM to Baloo barking like a maniac at the garage door. Stefan wasn’t home, and neither was Gicu, (and neither was the car). I called Stefan. They were heading to the vet hospital because Gicu was pooping blood. I would have said: okay, let’s give him rice, Imodium, and plenty of water. After lab work, a CT scan (actually many X-Rays), and $1,016, that’s exactly what they gave him anyway and sent him home. We also got 10 sachets of probiotic powder and two large syringes of anti-shit paste.
S: While Irina was asleep, Gicu went out for another round to do a quick poo, and around six-something I took them for a walk along the canal. That’s when I realized the Great Gicu was shitting blood and decided to go to the emergency vet clinic.
I: Just a normal Popescu household… with dogs, cats, etc. We are eagerly awaiting Saturday night’s winning numbers. Stefan bought a lottery ticket.

I: Gicu? He’s such a high-maintenance diva. He’s snoring away next to Stefan in the bedroom bed. Today was a major [religious] holiday. I didn’t do laundry. I didn’t mop the floors. On Monday I have to clean the entire house.
OC: If he was bleeding, he’s not a diva …
I: In his case, I’m saying it wasn’t a big deal. Gicu is like Prince Harry.
OC: Prince Harry gets diarrhea?
