How many mothers can start learning a new language at the young age of 60 and then learn it well enough to be able to read any book and watch any movie without any help?
Do you remember the movie “Entrapment” with Catherine Zeta-Jones and Sean Connery? Do you remember that scene on top of the Petronas Towers when he tells her to jump down the vent with the only little parachute left and to meet him the next day at the train station and she tells him not to be late? And Mac answers: “I’m never late. If I’m late is because I’m dead.”
This was our movie, we saw it every time it was on TV, plus many other times on DVD, just for kicks.
This became our saying every day at 6 am AZ time (4 pm Bucharest time) when I used to leave my house and drive for 40 minutes on that guerrilla highway on my way to work. Only Mom knew how much I hate driving!
Lavinia (her friend) writes: “Every time I was visiting your parents, at 16:00 hours, our time, your mom was leaving the room and ‘drove you to work’ on the highway. Those 60 minutes were her daily soul food. That phone conversation was a ‘taboo’. She was coming back to us happier and with a large smile”.
