Today (August 30th) is National Grief Awareness Day. For me, this is called “every day”.
I could write pages about grief, but if the last 18 months taught me something is that grief never ends and it’s uniquely personal. I learned to live with it, and even if sometimes I laugh or smile, it doesn’t mean that “I’m done” or “over it”.
What I ask from my friends is to leave me alone when I ask for it, and not to try to fix me, and not to ask “what’s wrong?”. If I have to spell it for you, then we have a problem.
